Did you know…

In 2019, the Maine Legislature passed legislation to encourage the development of solar and other small renewable energy projects in the State. Some of these projects are called Community Projects and provide opportunities for residents and small businesses to “subscribe” to green energy projects like solar in their local utility area, resulting in utility bill savings while supporting green energy.

How it works…

Through community support, Community Solar Projects produce clean, renewable electricity for their region.
The solar power is delivered to the local power grid for use.
As a subscriber, you receive solar credits on your electric bill, reducing what you pay to CMP or Versant Power.
The Community Solar Project charges you for the credits at a discounted rate, resulting in a net savings of 15% on your monthly electricity costs.*
*Monthly savings will depend on monthly allocation of bill credits.
Each bill credit will be discounted at 15%—fixed for term.

Why should I join?

  • Up to 15% savings on your bill every month
  • No long-term contracts or commitments
  • No upfront costs
  • No rooftop solar panels
  • Support Maine’s economy and local jobs
  • Promote clean, renewable solar power in Maine

How do I sign up?

You can enroll through Bold Coast Solar, a Maine-owned company registered through the Maine Public Utilities Commission, to help enroll Mainers in Community Solar Projects in their utility region.

When Will The Solar Projects Begin?

Rumford Park Solar is expected to be operational by May 2021, which is when credits will arrive on your bill offsetting what you pay CMP. Rumford Park Solar is a 3.9 MW array capable of producing 5,130,000 kwh’s annually. That is enough to offset over 500 homes electricity usage. Enrollments on this site are limited, so it’s best to enroll early to reserve your spot. Bold Coast Solar can walk you through the online enrollment process or you can complete the form yourself in less than 2 minutes. Just have your CMP bill ready!
